Launched in 1997, KTF is a leading player in the Korean mobile communications industry. Quote

"The HP OpenCall Media Platform enables KTF to speed the development and delivery of advanced 3G video services while reducing operational costs by 15 percent."

— Deok Han Kim, Network Service Development Team

Industry

Telecommunications

Challenge

To hone its competitive edge and enhance the subscriber experience, KTF planned to deliver sophisticated 3G video services. However, conventional systems for video services provided only one service per system and required separate hardware for video and signal processing. The learning curve for each system was steep. Modifications were difficult to execute.

Such a configuration lacked scalability and increased the cost and time of service provision.

Solution

KTF turned to Eluon, an HP partner and leading telecommunications solution provider, to deliver multiple 3G video services on a single platform. Eluon implemented the HP OpenCall Media Platform.

This platform allows KTF and Eluon to develop the most up-to-date VoiceXML applications, as well as future IMS-based services. In addition, the platform integrates with KTF's legacy video gateway, allowing the company to leverage its existing technology investments.

Support for VoiceXML and other industry standard protocols reduces complexity and speeds the development and modification of services. Developers can quickly create applications in the appropriate development environment without additional training.

In March 2007, KTF delivered a 3G video conferencing service to its subscribers using the HP OpenCall Media Platform. Using the same platform, the company will launch Video IVR within the year.

For enhancing the subscriber experience with advanced 3G video services, KTF won the HP OpenCall Global Award for Excellence in Innovation.

The company took a second award for its use of HP software to improve customer service satisfaction rates: the HP Business Technology Optimization Award for Excellence in Delivering Value to the Business.

Judged by an independent panel of experts, the two awards confirm KTF's leadership in aligning IT with business to achieve strategic goals.
