M1 adopts HP technology to deliver next generation integrated voice services

Customers now have the convenience of one number access across mobile services

SINGAPORE., Jun. 23, 2005

HP today announced that they have successfully consolidated mobile communications provider MobileOne's (M1) interactive voice recognition systems to provide customers with one number access across multiple mobile services.

With one direct number, M1 customers can access M1 voice services, such as Greetings, 4D and Toto information or Point, an innovative application that identifies song and music titles. In the past, such services were accessed via different short codes. M1 Customers today only have to dial 8100 3333 to access all these services.

The new platform based on the HP OpenCall Media Platform (OCMP) is able to consolidate M1's interactive voice recognition systems (IVR) using call bridging techniques. The OCMP also leverages Voice Extensible Markup Language (vXML) that enables M1 to develop more voice services, such as 4D/Toto, using vXML technology.

vXML is an open source programming language for voice. When combined with voice recognition technology, vXML enables interactive access to the Web through a telephone or a voice-driven browser.

"With growing demand and a more discerning customer base, we have to constantly update our IT systems to continually deliver innovative mobile services to our customers at the shortest possible time and the most convenient way," said Mr Patrick Scodeller, Chief Technical Officer of M1. "HP enables us to quickly integrate, deploy and push out our next-generation voice services in this very competitive business environment where time to market represents the difference between a market leader and a follower."

On top of the clear benefits and value-added services to consumers, M1 will be able to increase productivity through the new solution. With the new solution in place, maintenance of call flow can be quickly and easily handled by the M1 team without having to engage external vendors' services and media resources such as voice and video can also be consolidated with HP OCMP for ease of maintenance.

"M1 has consistently been a strong telco contender due to its ability to leverage technology to enhance business competitiveness. HP OCMP offers an open, highly scalable, carrier-grade media platform for convergent network implementations and future advanced applications—bringing the agility and value of IT to service delivery, while meeting the carrier-grade expectations that service providers demand," said Ms Tan Yen Yen, Director, Software Global Business Unit, HP South East Asia.

HP OpenCall is a suite of comprehensive, carrier-grade platforms for developing and deploying next-generation voice, data and converged services. Driving market-leading solutions in personal and group communication, advanced messaging, entertainment and information access, HP OpenCall platforms connect to any network and enable people to communicate, access rich media services and share content instantly.

HP OpenCall delivers market-leading solutions and business partnerships that bring the agility and value of IT to service delivery, while meeting carrier-grade expectations that service providers demand. With its robust product and service portfolio, HP OpenCall enables improved operational efficiency, rapid and easy delivery of new services and enhanced profitability. The HP OCMP runs on Linux supported by HP ProLiant DL380 and DL360 servers. HP Software Global Business Unit Telecom Services carried out the implementation.
