Overview

The HP OpenCall Home Location Register (HLR) delivers mobile network mobility management on a general-purpose computing-based platform. This centralized repository provides transient and static subscriber information for ANSI, GSM, and GPRS subscribers within a single network, while supporting interworking between technologies.

The HP OpenCall Home Location Register's flexibility and unique manageability enables HP to deliver a lower total cost of ownership. Its proven-migration strategy demonstrates a repeated ability to move our customers into a new environment without major impacts to their subscriber bases.

Key benefits

With the centralized HP OpenCall HLR, HP delivers lower total cost of ownership and reduces many of the complexities challenging you as you manage a multi-vendor network.

  • Reduced operations costs: Multiple generations of multiple technologies serviced on the same platform cuts costs and simplifies subscriber management.
  • Always-on reliability: Distributed active-active mated pair provides 100% operational availability — even during migrations.
  • Interoperability with mixed-switch-vendor networks enables infrastructure independence and uniform service offerings.

Key differentiators

Deployed in over 30 of the world's most successful wireless networks, this mission-critical technology currently supports over 200 million licensed subscribers in more than 35 countries spanning 5 continents.

  • IMS ready — HP enables you to provide next-generation services to your subscribers as your IMS network is implemented while maintaining the same level of service by co-locating its HP OpenCall Home Subscriber Server (HSS) on the same platform as its HLR.
  • Unsurpassed reliability — the HP OpenCall HLR has been in service for over thirteen years in a single account with no major outage attributed to the software.
  • HP's dedicated, experienced specialists perform trouble-free migrations for entire subscriber databases - up to 1.3 million subscribers at a time. Over 70 HP OpenCall Home Location Register systems have been migrated - successfully - by HP telecom service experts.
