Overview

Services providers' impact in subscribers lives is limited today to quality of service and price of that service. While these are critical features to any subscriber, they are limiting as a differentiator and may lose their influence over compelling a subscriber to stay with a service provider as new competition enters the mobility space. With the emergence of the next generation network, service providers are in a unique and potent position.

They possess a lot of data about their the subscriber; their identity, billing address, credit worthiness, services used, etc. in their networks today, but that data is isolated in silos and difficult to tie together for a unified view of the subscriber. HP Profile Manager helps establish an environment where a service provider can share and access user profile and service-related data to achieve reduced costs, a richer subscriber experience and a path toward new revenues.

With the HP Profile Manager service providers can:

  • More efficiently manage existing core subscriber data with a unified profile resulting in cost reduction
  • Leverage the unified profile to tie together services as well as bring new, data-less services to market more quickly for an enriched subscriber experience
  • Integrate community profile data into the unified profile and provide unified profile data to Web 2.0 services and capitalize on new relationships

Key Benefits

  • Reduced costs as the centralized view of subscriber data diminishes the burden on existing resources and makes the experimentation of new services more affordable.

  • Improved revenue stream as it speeds time to market for new services, allows service providers to build unique services through service chaining, and opens new revenue streams with focused mobile advertising.

  • Take advantage of existing investments as subscribers are allowed to federate data from existing applications in order to gain access to the data while leaving in place the legacy applications integrated with the broader network.

  • Improves customer satisfaction by providing the foundation for personalization that binds the subscriber experience to the service provider.

Key differentiators

  • Federate and consolidate: Rather than offer one or the other, HP keeps both options available to the service provider so that it can choose the most cost-effective combination to present the best view of its subscribers.

  • Standards based: Interfaces are standards based to allow service providers to bring in as many services as possible into the unified subscriber view.

  • Solution flexibility: Service providers can choose access interfaces, databases, and design rules and validation to meet their specific network need.

Key features

  • Centralized provisioning simplifies data management by allowing provisioning of multiple applications from a single interface.

  • Publish/subscribe capability notifies data changes to applications that request notification, including third party services, and is a key component of call flows enabling service chaining.

  • Consolidation and validation aligns attributes from multiple applications based on configurable rules and data validation routines to reflect a comprehensive view of the subscriber data.

  • Data convergence and federation provides two means of data alignment: converging data to a single, physical location or federating data to appear as a single table while it resides on a physically separate database.
