- Support and maintenance engineers who need an operational understanding of the HP OpenCall Media Platform

Learning objectives

Upon successful completion of this training, participants should be able to: - Understand the HP OpenCall Media Platform (OCMP) product concepts, topology and architecture, including Hardware installation validation
- Configure the platform, i.e. configure the OS environment, the Telecom Media Cards (TMC), the network, and the services
- Start and stop OC Media Platform and check the platform to ensure it is correctly started/stopped
- Monitor the platform and the applications
- Maintain and operate HW capacity upgrade
- Do a first level of troubleshooting and be able to use upgrade tools available in the platform
Optionally, according to pre-requisites for OCMP 3.x, participants could also learn: - How to configure and monitor OpenCall SS7
- How to configure and monitor OpenCall USP-M

Course prerequisites
|
 |
Recommended for OCMP 3.x release: Mandatory: - Familiarity with and administrative knowledge of Linux RedHat
- Knowledge of SS7, ISDN, SIP, and TDM (E1/T1, SONET/SDH) protocols (SS7, ISDN, and TDM protocols are not needed for OCMP 4.x)
- Knowledge of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Text To Speech (TTS) technology
- Knowledge of JAVA, XML, VoiceXML, and CCXML programming languages
- Good level of English - the course is delivered in English

Course materials & methodology

At the beginning of the course, each participant will receive a copy of all overhead slides. One set of the HP OCMP user documentation will be available for participants' use during the course. Lectures are interspersed with demonstrations and/or hands-on exercises, with about half of the course dedicated to practical sessions. These typically include: - Platform start-up and shutdown
- Platform, network and services configuration using the Web-based Interface
- Test of the configuration in a back to back set-up (one calling server, one receiving server) or using SIP Phone to call services
- Platform monitoring using the Web-based Interface

Trainers profile

Training will be led by an HP senior consultant with a background in telecommunications, networks and the HP OpenCall Media Platform, and experience installing, maintaining and supporting HP OpenCall Media platforms at customer sites.
|
Audience size

A minimum of five students will be required, and is limited to a maximum of eight students.
|
Course location
|
 |
This course can be delivered both at a HP site (with HP-supplied facilities and equipment) or on the customer's premises (in which case the customer is responsible for training room setup, including PC video projector and HP 9000 servers for HP-UX or two Proliant servers for Linux, running the HP OpenCall Media Platform and one X terminal for every two students.)
