Upon completion of this course, participants will understand the HP OpenCall SAC purpose, principles of operation and environment. Students will be able to: - Configure, start up and shut down the platform
- Perform platform operation and administration tasks, such as monitoring the specific OC SAC platform status, configuring and basic troubleshooting
OC SAC being built over the HP OpenCall Service Execution Platform ( SEP ), the OC SAC administration training also covers the basics of operation and administration usually developed in the OC SEP administration training, but focusing on OC SAC.

Upon successful completion of this training, participants should be able to:
- Understand the HP OpenCall Service Access Controller (OC SAC) product concepts, topology and architecture thanks to the introduction and description of :
- Solution concepts and how HP OpenCall Service Access Controller can be integrated in a global Prepaid ( or postpaid ) solution
- HP OpenCall Service Access Controller architecture overview
- Description of OC SAC specific Plugins
- Configure the platform through static and dynamic configuration
- Start and stop OC SAC platform and check the platform to ensure it is correctly started/stopped
- Monitor OC SAC platform thanks to the tools used for monitoring the platform, system and applications
- Operate OC SAC platform , and more specifically:
- Manage the CDR
- Operate HA and switchover
- Do housekeeping of the platform
- Do a first level of troubleshooting and be able to used upgrade tools available in the platform
Optionally, according to pre-requisites, participants could also learn:
- How to install the platform on the network
- How to configure and monitor the SS7 stack

Course prerequisites

Recommended: Mandatory: - Familiarity with HP-UX
- Familiarity with Intelligent Network (IN) concepts, including message sets (Camel, Win, CS2...)
- Good level of English the course is delivered in English

Course materials & methodology

At the beginning of the course, each participant will receive a copy of all overhead slides. One set of the HP OpenCall SAC user documentation will be available for participants' use during the course. Lectures are interspersed with demonstrations and/or hands-on exercises, with about one-third of the course dedicated to practical sessions. These typically include: - Platform configuration
- Platform start-up and shutdown
- Use of the Command Line Interfaces ( CLI ), in particular the OCSACprov CLI
- Generation and decoding a CDR
- Platform monitoring
- Use of the troubleshooting tools

Training methodology
|

Lectures are interspersed with hands-on exercises, focusing on the following service examples: - Dispatcher service — A generic illustration of the principles governing the interface between the communication channel and the services
- Specific example — Illustrating how to design and implement a service to handle credit card calls where an intelligent peripheral will be used.
Additional programming exercises are included in order to acquaint participants with programming concepts for example, handling timers, counters, and logs.

Training will be led by an HP senior consultant with a background in telecommunications, intelligent networks and service development using the HP OpenCall SCE platform.

Course delivery

This course is organized on a monthly basis in Grenoble or Cupertino. Sessions can also be organized on demand, anywhere in the world, at dates defined by the customer. The course can be delivered either at the Hewlett-Packard campus in Grenoble, France or in Cupertino, California, (with HP-supplied facilities and equipment) or on the customer's premises (with customer responsible for training room setup, including PC video projector, and one workstation running the HP OpenCall SCE platform for every two students).
