Course description

Dynamic Provisioning Architecture (DPA) provides an open systems interface to the Intelligent Network application databases.

This course provides an overview of the DPA subsystem and its relationship to Open Systems Service (OSS), iTP Webserver, and the CORBA network. Graphical and command line client interfaces are described in terms of gaining access to the subsystem, authenticating users, establishing database read and write privileges, and performing database maintenance operations.

Course benefit

This course provides practical experience in the use of the graphical and command line interfaces, creating individual DPA users, managing user groups, assigning database access privileges to users, modifying and extending predefined database access classes, customization of the graphical interface attributes, and controlling subsystem alarm, log, and audit functions, and use of the command interface to invoke mass update functions on the application database.

Target audience

This course is primarily focused at the network operations personnel, system administrators, software developers and installers, support analysts, and customer care personnel.

Learning objectives

Upon successful completion of this training, participants should be able to:

  • List the components of the DPA subsystem.
  • Install the PC-based DPA GUI client.
  • State the composition and use of the files in the Wireless Application Database (WADB).
  • Create and maintain DPA User and Group file records.
  • Understand how DPA controls access to the application database.
  • Create and maintain DPA Class of Service and Database View records.
  • Set up DPA alarms and auditing.
  • Use the DPA command-line client interface to maintain an application database.
  • Use the Mass Update Tool to update and delete multiple records in an application database.

Course prerequisites

Mandatory:

  • Good level of English – the course is delivered in English

Course materials & methodology

At the beginning of the course, each participant will receive a copy of all overhead slides. Lectures are interspersed with hands-on exercises, with about 1/3 of the course dedicated to practical sessions. These practical sessions include:

  • GUI Client Installation
  • Users and Groups
  • Classes of Service and Database Views
  • Alarms and Auditing
  • Generic Command Interface
  • Mass Update

Training schedule

  • This training course is organized quarterly or upon request.
  • This course is also offered onsite on an on-demand basis.
  • Six to eight weeks lead time is required.

Trainers profile

Training will be led by an HP senior consultant with a background in telecommunications, networks and the HP OpenCall NonStop INS platform, and with experience in maintaining and supporting customer sites.

Audience size

Typically, 3-6 participants are present in each class: A minimum of 3 students will be required, and class size is limited to a maximum of 6.

Course location

This course can be delivered both at a Hewlett-Packard site (with HP-supplied facilities and equipment) or on the customer's premises (in which case the customer is responsible for training room setup, including PC video projector, white board, functioning NonStop lab system, or firewall access to an external server).
