This course covers maintenance, startup, shutdown, surveillance, and report generation procedures that might be performed regularly or rarely on the INS platform. This course also describes the various user interfaces used to maintain and monitor the INS and entering configuration data through the INS-P Pathway user interface.

Students gain an understanding of operations and maintenance tasks on the INS-P. Students are also exposed to the user various INS interfaces and step-by-step procedures for configuring, starting and stopping system components and monitoring and maintaining the operational state of the INS-P and the Signaling System No. 7 (SS7) network.

Target audience
The course is designed for network operations personnel, selected switch technicians, system administrators, software installers, and support analysts. Students are expected to have completed the core INS courses and have some experience with the NonStop operating system and INS platform.

Trainers profile
Training will be led by a senior HP consultant with a background in telecommunications, networks and the HP OpenCall NonStop INS platform, and with experience in maintaining and supporting customer sites.
Audience size
Typically, 3-12 participants are present in each class: A minimum of 3 students will be required, and class size is limited to a maximum of 12.
Course location
This course can be delivered both at a Hewlett-Packard site (with HP-supplied facilities and equipment) or on demand at the customer's premises (in which case the customer is responsible for training room setup, including PC video projector and white board).
